With its rising popularity, a lot of people believe cannabidiol (CBD) has the most medicinal benefits of all cannabis compounds.
Because of all the misinformation about cannabis, it’s easy to get confused. To clarify the difference of hemp CBD there are actually two types of CBD on the market: One created from hemp and the other from marijuana. In other words, hemp and non hemp CBD are not grown from the same plant. They are actually harvested from two different species of the cannabis plant. And there are significant differences between CBD derived from hemp flower and CBD from non hemp flower.
No psychoactive properties
Hemp is harvested for the whole plant or stalks and seeds. Hemp must contain 0.3% or less THC. Non Hemp CBD is cultivated for its flower buds which contain TCH, known for its psychoactive properties.
Hemp CBD Is Low In THC
However, hemp CBD has around 3.5% CBD while non hemp CBD has a much higher percentage of CBD, up to or more than 20%. Sometimes non hemp CBD is balanced with TCH to boost the “entourage effect”. When these two cannabinoids interact, it increases the medicinal properties of these products. This is called the “entourage effect”.
Legal In the USA
Even though CBD-rich hemp products may not as potent as other-based CBD products, they are still valuable and can be consumed as a nutritional supplement. Since they contain only trace THC, hemp products are legal in all 50 states and therefore available anywhere in the US. In short, you could consider hemp CBD as a vitamin and non hemp CBD as pharmaceutical grade.
